MSD Capital, L.P. was formed in 1998 to exclusively manage the capital of Michael Dell and his family. MSD is an investment firm primarily focused on the following investment activities: · Investing in publicly-traded securities; · Engaging in traditional private equity activities; · Investing in real estate; and · Selectively forming "partnerships" with established third-party managers in the private and public markets. MSD Capital has been organized to engage in a broad range of investment activities. Its primary objective is to build an investment portfolio focused on long-term capital appreciation.
About the Person
Kurt Brungardt is the Chief Information Officer and Managing Director for MSD Capital, L.P., the New York-based private investment firm that manages the capital of Michael Dell and his family. Kurt manages all of MSD's technology, from trading systems to the design and implementation of advanced research capture and management systems. These systems help the firm manage, mine, share and exploit proprietary research to better identify new investment opportunities and better manage existing investments. Mr. Brungardt co-founded the Hedge Fund Technology Group (HFTG), a select group of CIO’s and CTO’s from many of the largest and most successful hedge funds in the United States. In the aggregate, HFTG member firms manage more than half a trillion dollars. Mr. Brungardt serves on the board of the New York chapter of the Society for Information Management as the President and is a mentor for Columbia University's Executive Master of Science in Technology Management program. Kurt is also a member of the exclusive New York CTO Club, which serves as an exclusive opportunity to think and design within the growing “Silicon Alley” and New City community. Mr. Brungardt has a Bachelors degree in Mechanical Engineering from the University of Minnesota and a Masters in Electrical Engineering from Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute.
