Air Products (NYSE:APD) is a world-leading industrial gases company in operation for 80 years. Kevin B. Michaelis was appointed VP of information technology and CIO in April 2012. In this role, he has overall responsibility for the company’s global information technology activities. Michaelis joined Air Products in 1989 as a project engineer in the company’s gases and equipment group. In 1994 he moved into a commercial role as an on-site development manager in metals. Michaelis subsequently held positions of increasing responsibility in the company’s chemicals and electronics divisions, including general manager of on-site and pipeline sales for San Fu Chemicals, Air Products’ joint venture in Taiwan, and business manager of electronics facility materials. He was named general manager of global generated gases in 2006. He was also general manager of worldwide equipment, where he led the sale of equipment businesses for tonnage gases, equipment and energy. In 2011 Michaelis relocated to the U.K., where he was appointed regional vice president of liquid bulk/generated gases — Europe. He returned to the U.S. in 2012 to assume his current position. Michaelis received a B.S. degree in chemical engineering from Drexel University in 1984 and an MBA from Temple University in 1992.
