About the Person

Kenneth Smith is senior vice president and chief information and human resources officer of PolyOne Corporation, the world’s premier provider of specialty polymer materials, services and solutions. In this role, he is responsible for PolyOne’s global information technology, human resources and corporate communications functions. Mr. Smith joined BFGoodrich / Geon in 1989 as manager of technical support and became vice president of information systems in 1999. He has served as PolyOne’s chief information officer since the company was formed in 2000. In 2003, he added the role of chief human resources officer and led PolyOne through various restructuring, and talent management initiatives. Prior to joining BFGoodrich / Geon, he was a technical consultant for AT&T, manager of communications technology at the Babcock & Wilcox Company, and senior software consultant for Digital Equipment Corporation. Mr. Smith earned a bachelor’s degree from the University of Akron and a master’s in business administration from Kent State University. He serves on the board of the Battered Women’s Shelter of Summit and Medina Counties and is also a recipient of the American Red Cross Vega award.
