Kenneth J. Spangler is Senior Vice President, Information Technology, and Chief Information Officer for FedEx Ground, Inc., the second largest domestic small package carrier. As Senior Vice President and CIO, Spangler is responsible for coordinating all information technology services for FedEx Ground, FedEx Home Delivery and FedEx SmartPost in the U.S. and Canada. A team of 500 professionals and 150 external consultants perform new application development, maintenance of legacy systems, software quality assurance, information engineering, and PC/LAN services. With over 20 years in the transportation industry, Spangler has been a leader of applying advanced technology in large, high transaction IT Systems. He has held various management positions in the Information Technology department, including: Vice President IT Field Systems Development, Managing Director Information Systems, Director Applications Development, Manager Applications Development and other management and technical roles. He is a graduate of the University of Pittsburgh, and currently a member of the Pittsburgh Large Corporation CIO Roundtable, IBM Power System Board of Advisors, and University of Pittsburgh Industry Advisory Board.
