About the Person

Kathryn Jackson comes to RTI from Westinghouse Electric Company, where for the last five years she served as Senior Vice President and Chief Technology Officer responsible for R&D as well as environmental sustainability initiatives. Prior to Westinghouse, Dr. Jackson held various positions at the Tennessee Valley Authority (TVA), most recently as executive vice president of River System Operations and Environment and the corporate environmental officer. She also worked for Alcoa Corporation as a technology forecaster and was post-doctoral fellow at the National Academy of Engineering. Dr. Jackson serves on the board of directors of Portland General Electric and until recently was the chair of the board of ISO New England, Inc. She is also an advisor to Carnegie Mellon University's Engineering School and the Complex Engineered Systems program, and is on the advisory board of the Carnegie Mellon Electricity Industry Center. Dr. Jackson received Doctorate and Master’s degrees in Engineering and Public Policy from Carnegie Mellon University. She holds a Master’s degree in Industrial Engineering Management from the University of Pittsburgh and a Bachelor’s degree in Physics from Grove City College.
