About the Person

Joel Gibbons manages and directs the Information Technology division, which is responsible for the technology infrastructure for the organization’s staff and facilities. He also manages application development and system integration efforts for all major organizational systems, including PeopleSoft, Exchange, a SharePoint-based intranet, a SharePoint-based public-facing website and portal, e-commerce and a customer relationship management system.

He is also the corporate compliance officer for the organization, responsible for auditing technology systems and business processes to ensure and maintain compliance. Major compliance efforts revolve around credit card and other financial data security and initiatives to keep personally identifiable data secure for nearly 560,000 FFA members in the U.S., Puerto Rico and the Virgin Islands and other stakeholders.

Additionally, Gibbons is involved with emergency planning and communications for the annual National FFA Convention & Expo, which draws more than 55,000 FFA members, teachers, exhibitors and sponsors.

In his 14 years with the National FFA Organization, Gibbons has served in the Information Technology department in a variety of roles, including help desk manager, technology trainer, business analysis, project manager and manager of the application development team.

Originally from Western Springs, Ill., Gibbons earned a bachelor’s degree in biblical studies from Milligan College in Johnson City, Tenn., and a master’s degree in business administration from Indiana Wesleyan University.

He is certified as a PCI Professional and a PCI Internal Security Assessor and is a member of the Society for Corporate Compliance and Ethics and Society for Information Management. He serves on the board of directors for his Home Owners Association and on the board of directors at the Master’s Study, a 501(c)3 classical Christian tutelage school.

A resident of Indianapolis, Gibbons resides with wife Rochelle. The couple has two young children.
