About the Person

Joe Norris is currently the Interim Chief Information Officer (CIO) for New Hanover Regional Medical Center (NHRMC). Recent accomplishments include; co-development of a new IT Governance process based on Lean methodologies through a collaborative prioritization process. Provide leadership and support to enhance the IT Security program through the acquisition of leading edge solutions to address rapidly evolving compliance requirements. Collaborated with clinical operations to create a Learning and Technology Center for the education of physicians and exploration of new technologies. Prior to arriving at NHRMC, Joe was the Associate Vice Chancellor/CIO for East Carolina University. While at ECU for more than 15 years I led several key consolidation initiatives including the support, procurement, and installation of virtualization technologies resulting in a nationally recognized cost effective IT support model in higher education. Additionally, he centralized various IT functions, lead infrastructure consolidation, and introduced efficiency and effectiveness reforms while supporting the University during a period of significant expansion. Prior to arriving at East Carolina University, Joe Norris began my career at BB&T Corporation, a nationally recognized bank, where I led the Systems and Operations departments. Later I joined Glaxo Wellcome pharmaceuticals as a senior analyst where I spearheaded various IT service related initiatives including the development of the Global Service & Monitoring Center. He have more than 25 years of progressive management experience in leading various IT service organizations.
