Knoxville, TN-based Tennessee Valley Authority has Promoted Joe Hoagland as Chief Technology Officer
The Tennessee Valley Authority, a corporation owned by the U.S. government, provides electricity for 9 million people in parts of seven southeastern states at prices below the national average. TVA, which receives no taxpayer money and makes no profits, also provides flood control, navigation and land management for the Tennessee River system and assists utilities and state and local governments with economic development. TVA has renewed its vision to help lead the Tennessee Valley region and the nation toward a cleaner and more secure energy future, relying more on nuclear power and energy efficiency and relying less on coal.
Joe Hoagland is TVA’s Designated Federal Officer for the Regional Resource Stewardship Council. He ensures that proper public notice is given of all Council meetings, represents TVA at those meetings and ensures that the minutes and other Council records are available to the public. Hoagland serves as senior vice president of Policy & Oversight, responsible for communications, compliance and policy governance, energy efficiency and demand response, retail regulatory affairs, security and emergency management, dam safety governance, safety and health, environmental policy and regulatory affairs, and technology development. Hoagland joined TVA in 1993. He earned a B.S. in Chemistry from Southern Utah University and a M.S. and Ph.D. in Physical Chemistry from Washington State University.
