About the Person

Joe Bengfort is the Executive Director and Chief Information Officer at UCSF Medical Center and joined the organization in June 2011. Prior to that, Mr. Bengfort worked for 22 years at Dell Services / Perot Systems where he held a broad range of senior leadership positions within the Healthcare Division including the management of key client relationships and service delivery at Parkland Hospital, Lucile Packard Children’s Hospital, Triad Hospitals and Stanford Hospital and Clinics. Mr. Bengfort has led strategic implementations of electronic medical records systems at Triad Hospitals (McKesson) and Stanford Hospital and Clinics (Epic) and has led large scale IT operations supporting electronic medical record environments. Mr. Bengfort also has extensive experience in the development, sales and operations of IT outsourcing in both the financial services and healthcare provider industries. A native of Texas, Mr. Bengfort received his Bachelor of Science degree from Texas A&M University where he graduated magna cum laude. Joe and his wife Gisela live in Mill Valley, CA. Prior to focusing on healthcare IT, Mr. Bengfort performed senior leadership roles responsible for the development of packaged and custom IT service offerings, infrastructure new business development, North American Technical Services and systems management consulting practice.
