About the Person

Jim Venturella, Chief Information Officer, Hospital and Physician Services Division, UPMC. Jim oversees all information technology operations across UPMC's 20 hospitals, 400 outpatient sites and its network of cancer centers. He previously served as CIO of UPMC's Hospital and Community Services Division, where he helped UPMC to achieve international recognition as one of the most advanced users of comprehensive electronic medical records (EMRs) to promote safe, high-quality patient care. Prior to joining UPMC in 2007, Jim worked with healthcare clients for 17 years at Andersen Consulting and Deloitte Consulting. He holds a bachelor's degree in mechanical engineering from the University of Pittsburgh.
