About the Person

A native of California, Stony Murry comes to Stony Brook from the University of California, Irvine (UCI), where he has served for the past five years as Associate Dean of Information Technology and Informatics of the UCI School of Medicine, and Chief Information Officer of UCI Medical Center; an organization which was just voted one of the top five hospitals in the country for information technology. Murry received his degree in computer sciences from UC Irvine, and after 16 years in the private sector generating creative solutions to business and healthcare information needs, joined UC Irvine as Director of Technical Services, and then as CIO of the Health Sciences.  He then served as National Vice President for Operations at Kaiser Permanente, one of the largest health maintenance organizations in the country, and as CIO and Senior VP of the City of Hope National Medical Center, before returning to UC Irvine in 2008 in his present capacity as CIO of the Medical Center and Associate Dean in the Medical School.
