Matthews, NC-based Harris Teeter has appointed Jim Clendenen as Chief Information Officer.
Harris Teeter Supermarkets, Inc. through its primary subsidiary Harris Teeter, Inc. operates a regional chain of supermarkets in eight states primarily in the southeastern and mid-Atlantic United States, and the District of Columbia.
Jim Clendenen is currently the Senior Vice President and Chief Information Officer for Harris Teeter Supermarkets based in Matthews, North Carolina. Harris Teeter, Inc., is a wholly-owned subsidiary of Ruddick Corporation, and operates 206 stores in the eight-state area of North Carolina, South Carolina, Virginia, Georgia, Tennessee, Florida, Maryland and Delaware. The company also operates stores in the District of Columbia and operates Grocery, Frozen Food, and Perishable distribution centers in Greensboro and Indian Trail, NC, as well as the Hunter Farms milk and ice cream facility in High Point, NC. Jim is a 25 year veteran of the food industry starting his career as a Bagger working for Quality Food Centers (QFC) in Seattle, Washington. Jim held various positions for QFC in Store Operations, Merchandising and Information Technology while leading system integration projects during the mergers of QFC and Fred Meyer and later Kroger. In 2004, Jim became the Senior Vice President and Chief Information Officer for Bashas’ Family of Stores based in Chandler, Arizona before accepting his current position with Harris Teeter in 2008. Jim holds a Master’s Degree in Business Administration from Seattle University.
