Ann Arbor, MI-based HistoSonics appointed Jim Bertolina as Chief Technology Officer.
HistoSonics Inc. is a new medical device company that is developing Histotripsy, a non-invasive image guided and robotic tissue excision technology that was licensed from the University of Michigan. Histotripsy is a versatile platform that will replace traditional surgical and minimally invasive methods to reduce patient trauma and health care costs. The first clinical application will be treatment of Benign Prostatic Hyperplasia (BPH), a prevalent condition in senior men. The condition affects over two million men in the US and approximately 400,000 are treated surgically each year.
