About the Person

Jean Marie Delaney Nelson serves as Chief Information Officer and Senior Vice President of Securian Financial Group, Inc. Ms. Nelson serves as Senior Vice President and Chief Information Officer of Minnesota Life Insurance Co., a Securian Financial Group company where she has worked since 1979 and served as its Vice President. Ms. Nelson is responsible for all of Minnesota 's technology strategic direction setting and services. She manages a staff of 400, who provide application development and network, technical, telecommunications and data security services. Ms. Nelson served as Member of Management Board and Director of Allina Hospitals & Clinics. Ms. Nelson serves on the College of St. Catherine Advisory Board and formerly served on the Board of the Minnesota Fire & Casualty Company. Her community service work includes Children's Hospital in St. Paul and St. Croix Catholic School. Ms. Nelson was recently selected as one of the 100 premier information technology leaders by Computerworld magazine and named one of the 25 women change makers in the Twin Cities by The Business Journal. Her department was selected by Computerworld nine years in a row as one of the 100 best places to work in IT and by Information Week six times as one of the 500 leading IT innovators. Ms. Nelson is a graduate of the College of St. Catherine, with a bachelor's degree in mathematics. She is a Fellow of the Life Management Institute, a professional insurance designation; and she holds data processing certification as well.
