New York, NY-based The Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation appointed James Szmak as Chief Information Officer.

James Szmak, who had served as interim CIO at JDRF since May 2009, joins the organization after successfully building and leading technology and infrastructure organizations at a number of global businesses. Before joining JDRF, Mr. Szmak served as Consulting Chief Technology Officer for Washington-based Salire Corporation, a software and IT services firm working with Fortune 500 businesses. With Salire, Mr. Szmak worked with non-profit, financial, healthcare, and other customers to provide IT leadership for major projects or the entire organization; he previously served as Vice President for Salire’s Business Operations group. Before Salire, Mr. Szmak was Vice President of Business Operations for California-based, Hyperion Solutions Corporation, a major business intelligence solutions provider based in California, which was acquired by Oracle. Earlier in his career, Mr. Szmak had also served as Director of the America’s IT for California-based Cisco Systems, Inc.
