From formulating the Governor`s annual budgets to maintaining the grounds of the capitol complex in downtown Montgomery, the Alabama Department of Finance leaves its mark on state government. The state finance director, appointed by the Governor, leads the Department. He is the chief financial officer of the state and the Governor`s advisor in all financial matters. He is responsible for the oversight of each of the Department`s divisions, and is charged with protecting the financial interests of Alabama.
