West Texas A&M University (also known as WTAMU, WT, and formerly West Texas State), part of the Texas A&M University System, is a public university located in Canyon, Texas, a city of 13,000 approximately 13 miles south of Amarillo, Texas, a city of 190,000. Established on September 20, 1910, and originally known as West Texas State Normal College, the university started out as one of the seven state-funded teacher colleges in Texas. The university offers 62 undergraduate programs, 41 master`s programs and 1 doctoral program through its 5 colleges and graduate school. West Texas A&M University has awarded more than 71,000 undergraduate, graduate and professional degrees since 1910. West Texas A&M University has been named “military friendly” and its academic programs and campus have been recognized by The Princeton Review, U.S. News and World Report, Newsweek and The Daily Beast. The University`s Buffalo Sports Park is home to the largest grouping of synthetic athletic fields in the United States, and its Advanced Wind Turbine Test Facility is one of the largest testing facilities in the world for both large and small wind turbines. Minnesota State University, Mankato is a public four-year university located in Mankato, Minnesota. As of Fall 2015, the student body is the second largest in the state of Minnesota with over 15,000 students, with the University of Minnesota, Twin Cities campus ranking first. Students are served by 600 full-time faculty members creating a 28:1 student to faculty ratio. The school was founded in 1868 and is part of the Minnesota State Colleges and Universities System (MnSCU). The current President is Richard Davenport, who began his term in 2002. The athletic teams are known as the Minnesota State University Mavericks with school colors of purple and gold. Teams primarily compete at the NCAA Division II level in the Northern Sun Intercollegiate Conference. The exceptions are the Men`s and Women`s ice hockey teams who compete at the NCAA Division I level, in the highly regarded Western Collegiate Hockey Association (WCHA). Minnesota State University currently offers 158 undergraduate programs of study, 82 graduate programs and is the first institution in the United States to offer a Master of Fine Arts degree
