About the Person

Guy Barnard, as Senior Vice President and Chief Information Officer at Healthways, Inc., is the business and technology executive responsible for translating Healthways' Well-Being Improvement strategy into automated workflows enabled by the Company’s advanced product and technology platforms.  Guy is a direct report of the CEO and active member of the Healthways executive team and enterprise strategy team. In this role, Guy leads the product development and business technology departments, has oversight of the Company’s outsourced information technology partnerships, including a $380M spend with Hewlett-Packard, and a multi-year strategic partnership with Roundarch Isobar to design, develop and operate consumer-facing digital products.  Guy’s responsibilities include all technology and CIO responsibilities, including information security and compliance, as well as Healthways' advanced business intelligence, analytics and reporting functions. Healthways is the largest independent global provider of well-being improvement solutions.  Dedicated to creating a healthier world one person at a time, the Company uses the science of behavior change to produce and measure positive change in well-being for its customers, which include employers, integrated health systems, hospitals, physicians, health plans, communities and government entities.  The Company has scaled its proprietary technology infrastructure and delivery capabilities developed over 30 years and now serves approximately 40 million people on four continents. In the last 24 months, Guy’s team has delivered Healthways new consumer experience, Well-Being Connect, developed and launched the innergy healthier weight product in association with Johns Hopkins Medicine, deployed several commercial mobile apps including wellbeingGO and innergyGO, and scaled the next generation embrace platform to support 10M lives (a ten-fold increase in two years). Guy Barnard joined Healthways in 2007 as Vice President to develop its strategic planning functions. His responsibilities were expanded three times in three years to include all enterprise strategy and planning functions, corporate strategy, portfolio management, program management, and enterprise performance.  Guy transitioned to his technology leadership role in January, 2011, and his responsibilities were expanded again in January 2012 to include infrastructure, security and legacy applications. Guy has over 20 years of strategy, consulting, operations management and technology experience spanning multiple industries and continents, with deep expertise in Healthcare Services. Prior to joining Healthways, Guy was with the Boston Consulting Group (BCG) for seven years where he was Principal for the Healthcare Services Practice. Guy consulted with, and developed business and technology strategies for such corporations as Pfizer, The Walt Disney Company, Lucent Technologies, New York Life, Lloyds of London, and numerous national and regional health plans. Prior to BCG, Guy was at Andersen Consulting (Accenture) in London and New York where he regularly designed, developed and implemented $100M-$500M technology capabilities. He has a proven track record in translating strategy into exceptional business results. Guy holds an MBA from the MIT Sloan School of Management in Cambridge, Mass. and an MA and BA in Mathematics from Cambridge University, England. He holds dual British and U.S. nationality and is active in local non-profits, for example on the Boards of the Healthways Foundation and of the Montessori School of Franklin.
