The University Medical Center of El Paso (UMC) was selected as the Best Hospital in El Paso for 2015 by El Paso residents. It was also selected for having Best Clinics and Best Emerency Department. UMC is home to the only Level I Trauma Center in a 280-mile radius of El Paso. More than 85 percent of all trauma cases are sent to UMC` widely regarded as the best equipped` most advanced hospital in the region. Outpatient Rehabilitation` Family Planning` Infusion (chemotherapy)` Pharmacy` Laboratory and Radiology services are also available at various locations across El Paso. UMC is also home to the West Texas Regional Poison Control Center. In FY 2015 UMC received approximately $65 million in Hospital District operating taxes` yet we provided $354 million in uncompensated care to the uninsured and working poor population in the El Paso community.
