Oncure does not own nor manage physician practices, rather it collaborates with its affiliated radiation oncologists to provide quality patient treatment. Oncure partners with leading radiation oncology medical groups to offer cancer patients a comprehensive range of radiation oncology treatment options. Oncure provides capital for growth as well as management and administrative functions such as physician succession planning, professional staff recruiting, marketing, managed care contracting, receivables management, compliance, purchasing, information systems, accounting and human resource management. Oncure’s cancer treatment centers provide extraordinary care, helping patients navigate the entire treatment and healing process.
George A. Welton joined Oncure Medical Corp as the Senior Vice President and Chief Information Officer. George has over 20 years of experience in healthcare operations, IT and consulting for startup, public, nonprofit and faith-based organizations. Prior to joining Oncure, Mr. Welton held the following executive positions: Senior VP/CIO at The Breakaway Group; CIO Partner with Tatum, LLC; CIO for Exempla Healthcare; VP of IT for Centura Health; and Regional CIO and Chief Operating Officer at VHA Great Lakes & Chicago Healthcare Systems. He assisted in the creation of a demonstration site for a pilot health information system; led the administrative portion of a merger between two university-affiliated hospitals; designed and implemented the IT and medical record initiatives in the construction of a Greenfield digital hospital; and directed more than 100 IT-related projects, including development of a clinical portal with over 8,000 subscribers and multiple PACS, RIS, and VoIP installations across the country. Mr. Welton has contributed to articles in Cisco System’s Packet magazine, Advance for Health Information Executives, Health Management Technology, and The Denver Business Journal. He was a featured speaker on a joint Cisco Systems and BroadVision Gartner Webcast about portal technology and has spoken as a featured or keynote speaker at the Denver Health Sciences Center, Clinical Science Program; the University of Colorado at Denver’s School of Business MBA program; Cisco Systems IPT Healthcare Seminar, and on numerous CIO panels with the Colorado Chapter of HIMSS. He was a founding member of CONNECTed Information Technology Executives and the Clinical Science Program Industry Liaison Advisory Committee with the University of Colorado Health Sciences Center. Mr. Welton holds dual Master’s degrees in Healthcare Administration and Public Policy Analysis from Tulane University (LA), and a BA from Susquehanna University (PA). He completed the Executive Series for CIOs from the College of Healthcare Information Management Executives and is a Fellow with the Health Information and Management Systems Society.
