About the Person

Gary joined Molex in February 1984 as a member of the newly created CADCAM Group to develop and implement a global strategy for Molex’s CAD/CAM/CAE systems. During this period, Molex deployed a centralized technical systems strategy in all of its global Engineering Centers. The global engineering systems included standardized CADCAM Systems and a global PDM database. Today, Molex leverages these systems to drive the introduction of 400+ new products annually resulting in 30% of our annual revenue. These systems now support over 1,500-users and are in the process of being integrated to our global ERP system. In 1989, Gary was promoted to Director Technical Systems. In 1993, Gary assumed responsibility for the Americas Region Business Systems Group. Scope of responsibility during this period was focused on all MIS requirements for Molex’s Americas Region which was a $350-million business unit at that time. During this period, preparations were being started to launch the global ERP project. SAP was selected in 1994 and Gary assumed responsibility for the SAP implementation within the Americas Region. The project was completed in 1998 with the implementation of SAP in 15-plants, 12-sales offices and the headquarters in October. In 1999, Gary assumed the leadership role of the Global Information Systems (GIS) Team which was the centralized SAP configuration group. During this period, Molex undertook the final phase of the SAP implementation project which included implementation in our Japan facilities including four distribution centers, five plants and the FEN Regional headquarters. Gary was promoted to Vice President, Information Systems in February 2000. In 2005, the role was extended to include Vice President, Information Systems and Chief Information Officer. Responsibilities now include global business systems, technical & engineering systems, infrastructure as well as integrated voice & data networks. Over this period, Molex has completed additional SAP implementations and is now running 98% of its business through this single instance, centralized system which is approaching 10,000-users. CRM, BI and Advanced Planning Systems based on SAP’s APO product have also been globally implemented as well as an aggressive E-Commerce strategy has been developed and installed. In July, 2007 Gary was appointed to Molex’s Global Leadership Team and was promoted to Senior VP Information Systems and CIO. Gary currently reports directly to Martin Slark, Molex Chief Executive Officer. This expanded role has driven an even greater alignment between business & IT strategies. Key projects being driven include globalization of our new organization structure, new demand planning systems, improvements in our new product development process as well as upgrades to the global infrastructure. Prior to joining Molex, Gary was with International Harvester in the Chicago area as a systems developer for their Engineering and Product Test Groups. Gary is a graduate of Indiana University with a BA in Mathematics and Business Operations and a minor in Computer Science. Post graduate MBA work has been completed at DePaul University in Chicago with a concentration in management information systems.
