Lisle, IL-based Molex appointed Gary Matula as Chief Information Officer.
Molex is a manufacturer of electronic interconnectors. Molex sells over 100,000 products, including everything from electrical and fiber optic interconnects solutions, to switches and application tooling. Molex supplies a variety of industries, including the telecom, datacom, computer and peripheral, automotive, premise wiring, industrial, consumer, medical and military markets. The company began by making flowerpots out of an industrial byproduct plastic called Molex. Later they made connectors for General Electric and other appliance manufacturers out of the same plastic. Molex acquired Woodhead Industries in the largest acquisition in the former's history
Gary Matula is EVP and CIO of Molex Incorporated. His responsibilities include aligning business and IT strategies, along with overseeing global business systems, technical and engineering systems and infrastructure, and integrated voice and data networks. Matula joined Molex in 1984 as a member of the company’s CADCAM group, and in 1989 was promoted to director of technical systems. In 1993, he began leading the Americas region business systems group, where he helped launch the company’s global ERP system in the Americas region. In 1999, he began leading the global information systems team, before being promoted in 2000 to VP of information systems. In 2005, his role was expanded to include CIO and in 2012, he became EVP. Prior to joining Molex, Matula worked for International Harvester as a systems developer for its engineering and product test groups, and was manager of engineering systems for dresser industries. Matula is a committee chair for the Make-A-Wish Foundation; director of the Western Golf Association’s Evans Scholars Foundation; and director of Lixi, Incorporated. He earned a B.A. degree in mathematics and business operations from Indiana University. He completed his post-graduate MBA work in management information systems at DePaul University.
