About the Person
Gareth Hughes assumed the role of Chief Technology Officer of CloudPay following a highly successful tenure as the company’s Head of Development. What attracted him to CloudPay, which he describes as a global payroll provider powered by its own smarts, was the opportunity to work for a relatively small company and help it realize its true potential as the foremost provider of global payroll technology. A natural problem solver, Gareth is driven to leverage his technical expertise to help CloudPay continually improve and enhance its SaaS global payroll platform. Gareth honed his IT and leadership skills early in his career, where he led software development teams for companies including Axiell. Following his completion of a Bachelor of Science in Physics from the University of Surrey, which included a year working at IBM, he spent ten years as a research fellow in the Computer Science Department of the University of Southampton, earning a PhD in Contextual Open Hypermedia Systems in 2003. When not at work guiding CloudPay’s continued technology innovation, Gareth enjoys running and garden design.
