Zuma was founded in Knightsbridge, London in 2002 by chef Rainer Becker and quickly established an enviable worldwide reputation. Zuma Hong Kong followed in 2007 and has since been joined by locations in Istanbul, Dubai, Miami, Bangkok and Abu Dhabi. A further opening in New York is planned for 2014. The enormous popularity of the dishes from our Robata grill also led us to establish another group of restaurants, Roka, the first of which opened in London in 2004. Seeking to create an interior space to match the Zuma ethos, Rainer Becker established a long-term collaboration with Noriyoshi Muramatsu, who worked with esteemed Tokyo design company Super Potato in their first project outside Japan. The result is a stylish environment that blends traditional craftsmanship with urban modernity and takes in every aspect, from staff uniforms to walls and tableware. At Tropical Smoothie Cafe, we`ve been making and serving fresh food and smoothies for as long as we can remember. In 1993, even before we opened our first Cafe, we served fresh fruit smoothies from a stand on a Florida beach. We`ve come a long way since then, but we`ve remained true to our early days of pure, wholesome food. In 1997, we opened our first franchise in Tallahassee, Florida to give our customers a place to sit and relax while enjoying our fruit smoothies. By 1999, we added a wide range of wholesome food options to our menu that perfectly complemented our smoothies. One year later, we officially established the Tropical Smoothie Cafe name. In 2007, we celebrated our 10 year anniversary and started our own holiday, National Flip Flop Day. On National Flip Flop Day, we raise funds to benefit Camp Sunshine and customers who visit our Cafes wearing flip flops between 2pm - 7pm receive a FREE smoothie. It`s a great day to bring on the sunshine in the lives of children with life-threatening illnesses and their families. Today, we have over 540 franchise locations in 42 states and customers continue to fall in love with Tropical Smoothie Cafe as a destination for flavor. We`ve always been guided by this one simple belief: when you eat better, you feel better and when you feel better - all is better.
