University Hospital is an independent medical center with more than 500 licensed beds, an active medical staff of more than 600, and over 3,000 employees. As part of our mission to serve the residents of Newark and surrounding communities, University Hospital is also proud to be the principal teaching hospital of New Jersey Medical School, Rutgers School of Dental Medicine, the School of Health Related Professions, and the Rutgers School of Nursing.
