About the Person
Ellen Tobias joins Putney’s senior leadership team as Vice President of Technical Operations, bringing over twenty five years of pharmaceutical manufacturing, leadership and management expertise to Putney. Ms. Tobias is responsible for all of Putney’s technical operations, including global supply chain and oversight of Putney’s external manufacturing network. Prior to joining Putney, Ms. Tobias held a wide range of leadership roles at Eli Lilly and Company, most recently as Senior Director of External Drug Product Manufacturing. In that role, Ms. Tobias successfully established local manufacturing partners in four new countries, prepared contingency launch supply for multiple new molecular entities, and established global logistics standards on warehousing, transportation and product security. Ms. Tobias also spent four years as Vice President of Elanco Animal Health Manufacturing, Eli Lilly’s animal health division, where she led manufacturing during the launch of its companion animal health business. During Ms. Tobias’ tenure, sales rose from $880 million to $1.39 billion, driven in part by the launch of Comfortis®. Ms. Tobias earned a Bachelors of Science in Chemical Engineering from Purdue University, and received the Distinguished Engineering Alumni Award from Purdue in 2011. In 2013 she received Eli Lilly’s Leading for Inclusion Award. She is an active member of the Purdue University Alumni Association, the American Institute of Chemical Engineers, the Audubon Society and NICHES Land Trust.
