In this position, she is responsible for the planning, budgeting and implementing programs designed to integrate technology into classroom instruction to improve student learning and overseeing the technology needs of the municipality. From 2004 through April 2012 she was the Coordinator of Educational Technology and Instructional Media for Plymouth Public Schools in Massachusetts. In this position she also coordinated the development of a fully functional technology and school library program in the eight elementary, two middle and two high schools that serves 8,500 students. Ellen was appointed by the commissioner of the Department of Elementary and Secondary Education to the Educational Technology Advisory Committee (ETAC). She serves on the Board of Directors for Open Cape and MassCUE. She embraces Ralph Waldo Emerson’s belief that “the secret of education lies in respecting the pupil.”
