New York, NY-based Diam Usa Promoted Eiichi Watatani as Chief Information Officer
Diam Usa Inc. is the US division of DIAM Co., Ltd. based in New York and manages over $3.2 billion *1 in equity, quantitative equity, fixed income and fund strategies for U.S. and Japanese institutional investors. The company was formed in 2000 and is a Registered Investment Advisor. Diam Usa Inc. changed its name from DLIBJ Asset Management USA Inc. on January 1, 2008. DIAM Group is a global investment management organization based in Tokyo that was formed in 1999 as a 50%/50% joint venture of two of the largest Japanese financial services firms -- Dai-ichi Life Insurance Company and Mizuho Financial Group (NYSE listed: MFG). The structure of the DIAM Group was created from pre-existing asset management units of Dai-ichi Life and Mizuho Financial Group.
Eiichi Watatani joined DLIBJ in New York in 2001 and is the senior portfolio manager responsible for all U.S. fixed income portfolios, including our U.S. Aggregate, U.S. Credit and CDO portfolios.Prior to joining DLIBJ in New York, he was responsible for Japanese fixed income portfolios at DLIBJ and Dai-ichi Mutual Life in Tokyo, where he worked from 1996 to 2001.In 2002 he worked at Standish Mellon Asset Management, where he worked on an assignment from DLIBJ.Mr. Watatani received a BA from Waseda University in 1987 and an MBA from the Anderson Graduate School of Management at UCLA in 1993.He has received both the CFA and CMA designations.
