The Louisville Metro Housing Authority (LMHA), previously named the Housing Authority of Louisville, operates as a non-profit organization tasked with overseeing the creation and maintenance of federally subsidized housing within the Louisville Metro region. Currently, LMHA manages more than 16,000 housing units, with eligibility largely determined by federal income criteria. Its portfolio includes four family-oriented housing complexes, five communities tailored for accessible and senior citizens, and an expanding array of scattered-site residences. Oversight and policy decisions are made by a nine-member Board of Commissioners, appointed by the mayor.
