Anyone who sails a ship, flies an aircraft, goes into harm`s way, makes national policy decisions, responds to disasters, or navigates with a cellphone, all rely on the National Geospatial-Intelligence Agency. NGA delivers world-class geospatial intelligence, or GEOINT, that provides a decisive advantage to warfighters, policymakers, intelligence professionals and first responders. Both an intelligence agency and a combat support agency, NGA fulfills the president`s national security priorities in partnership with the intelligence community and Department of Defense. NGA is headquartered in Springfield, Virginia and has two major locations in St. Louis and Arnold, Missouri. Hundreds of NGA employees serve on support teams at U.S. military, diplomatic and allied locations around the world.

About the Person

Douglas P. McGovern is currently serving as the Director of Innovision for the National Geospatial-Intelligence Agency (NGA). Mr. McGovern previously served as the Deputy Director of InnoVision and championed alignment of the Science, Research and Technology portfolio with the NGA Strategic Objectives and initiatives.     Prior to that assignment, Mr. McGovern served as the Deputy Chief Operating Officer in direct support to the Director of NGA in daily management and coordination of agency operations across all Key Components.  Mr. McGovern also served a two year joint duty assignment at the Office of the Director of National Intelligence as the IC Chief Architect and Associate Deputy Director for Information Integration Oversight and Engineering. In this capacity, Mr. McGovern led the development of the IC Joint Architecture Reference Model, the IC Information Assurance Architecture and championed the development, deployment and 24X7 operation of community technical services, including the suite of Intelink services. Mr McGovern joined NGA (NIMA) in 2001 and served in Senior Level/Executive positions as the Deputy Director for Acquisition Engineering, Senior Advisor for Acquisition Management and Process Improvement, and as the Program Manager for Commercial Remote Sensing. In these roles Mr. McGovern led engineering efforts to modernize the National System for Geospatial Intelligence (NSG), secured a Level 3 process maturity rating for NGA Acqusition in 8 process areas, led acquistion business operations for the GeoScout program and mainsteamed Commercial Remote Sensing data across the NSG. Mr McGovern began his government career in 1981 with the Naval Sea Systems Command working principally in the acquisition, development and operational support of high technology projects within the Deep Submergence Systems Program. These included advanced special warfare R&D capabilities, development of US Navy Unmanned Search and Recovery systems, modernization of the Navy`s only nuclear powered research submarine (NR-1) and development support to the Woods Hole Oceanographic Institute. Mr. McGovern is a member of the Acquisition Professional Community, certified level III in Program Management. He has a Masters of Business Administration from the University of Phoenix, a Bachelor of Science in Mechanical Engineering from the University of Virginia, is an alumnus of the Defense Systems Management College Program Management Course and the Joint Chiefs of Staff Capstone Course. He is the recipient of the ODNI National Intelligence Certificate of Distinction, a DCI Meritorious Unit Citation and the Presidential Rank of Meritorious Senior Level Professional. Doug and his wife Nancy, live in Ashburn, VA. They have three children, one son and two daughters.
