About the Person

Doug Jones is the new regional chief information officer (RCIO) for KentuckyOne Health. Doug comes to CHI most recently from independent consulting where he helped health care clients with IT strategy, mergers and acquisitions, and clinical informatics. Prior to consulting, Doug was the CIO for the California Region of Providence Health and Services. During his time at Providence, Doug was responsible for IT support for five hospitals, two extended care facilities, two hospices, a medical foundation and a high school. During this time, he completed an IT department rebuild, implemented a successful governance structure and process, standardized regional technologies, built and implemented a five-year IT strategy design and implementation, converted five hospitals from separate Meditech Magic platforms to a standard Meditech 6.0 platform, developed and implemented a subsidized physician electronic medical record program, supported hospital acquisitions, increased employee morale and built a high-performing IT team. Doug’s experience includes working for Kaiser Permanente, Cedars-Senai Medical Center, MemorialCare Health System, Dearbour Advisors and First Consulting Group. He has served as a member of the American Medical Informatics Association since 1983 and is a member of Health Information Management Systems Society, College of Healthcare Information Management Executives, CHIEF – Group of Southern California CIOs and The Advisory Board. Doug is a Computerworld 100 Premier IT Leaders Award recipient. Doug has more than 30 years’ experience in health care, 23 of those years in IT. He holds a bachelor’s degree in biology from Haverford College in Haverford, Pa., and a Master of Science in health policy and management from Harvard University, Cambridge, Mass. Doug began his new role March 31, 2014. He takes the reins from Debbie Mullins, interim RCIO, who will continue to serve as the ITS site director for the Louisville market facilities.
