The overall aim of our gifted services is to assist eligible students in reaching their full potential through a challenging curriculum and differentiated instruction. Gifted instruction activities includes more elaborate, complex, and in-depth study of major ideas, problems, and themes. Instructional Goals include: To meet the individual needs of gifted students To prepare students for higher level educational opportunities To enhance curricula and provide learning experiences that meet the needs and nature of gifted learners To nurture critical, creative, and self-regulated thinking To encourage citizenship and leadership development To provide students and parents with educational opportunities to support the social and emotional needs of gifted learners To provide students with skills and strategies to be able to function independently in a productive manner To provide students with experiences that involve planning, interpreting, finding, evaluating, and using information To provide experiences for students to communicate information, ideas, and solutions clearly, succinctly, and accurately Carroll County Schools uses a variety of search methods to identify students who demonstrate a need for gifted services as defined by the Georgia Department of Education in Rule 160-4-2-.38, Education Program for Gifted Students. A student may recommend himself or herself or be recommended by parents, teachers, counselors, or administrators for referral to the gifted education program.
