About the Person
Dennis Fishback began serving as Calpine Corporation's first Chief Information Officer in 2001. In this role he was in charge of the Company's technology applications and infrastructure and manages its office facilities. He was also responsible for building the company's IT systems from the ground up and consolidating operations to increase efficiency in order to achieve their long term goals. "Dennis is knowledgeable about Calpine's business and was able to communicate to other Calpine executives where IT needed to be and how he was going to take us there," said a Company executive. "Dennis places a great deal of trust in his team, which always encourages them to go above and beyond." His efforts have consistently been recognized by others in his field. In 2004, Fishback was honored by Computerworld as one of the business world's Premier 100 IT Leaders and he is a frequent speaker at events in the industry. Prior to joining Calpine, Fishback supervised information technology for the state's power grid as California Independent System Operator and spent over 20 years working for Virginia Power.
