Headquartered in Charlotte, N.C., Duke Energy is one of the largest energy holding companies in the United States. Its Electric Utilities and Infrastructure business unit serves approximately 7.5 million customers located in six states in the Southeast and Midwest. The company`s Gas Utilities and Infrastructure business unit distributes natural gas to approximately 1.6 million customers in the Carolinas, Ohio, Kentucky and Tennessee. Its Commercial Renewables business unit operates a growing renewable energy portfolio across the United States. Duke Energy is a Fortune 125 company traded on the New York Stock Exchange under the symbol DUK.
Mr. David W. Mohler served as Chief Technology Officer and Vice President of Duke Energy Corporation since October 2006 and served as its Senior Vice President. Mr. Mohler was responsible for the development and application of technologies in support of Duke Energy's strategic objectives. He lead Duke’s “Utility of the Future” project, a targeted deployment of communications, sensors, controls and technologies designed to transform Duke’s energy delivery infrastructure into an intelligent, flexible, secure and responsive two-way information network while enabling full extension of energy efficiency and distributed resources. He served as Vice President of Strategic Planning for Duke Energy. Prior to the merger between Duke Energy and Cinergy, he served as Vice President of Strategic Planning for Cinergy. He has operational experience in both nuclear and fossil power generation, as well as experience in corporate marketing, human resources and business development. While at Cinergy, he led the assessment and redesign of capital allocation and processes. He served as General Manager of Human Resources. Before joining Cinergy, He was employed by Public Service Electric & Gas (PSE&G). He served on the executive team that developed PSE&G's first deregulated retail subsidiary. He served as a Member of Advisory Board at GridPoint, Inc., since October 17, 2007 and served as its Director. He earned a bachelor of arts degree from Indiana University, a bachelor of science degree from the University of the State of New York, a master of arts degree from Xavier University of Cincinnati, and a master of science degree from the University of Pennsylvania. He also completed the Columbia University Marketing Management Program and Penn State University Executive Development Program.
