About the Person

David Huizenga is co-founder, President and Chief Technology Officer of Tao Life Sciences. His expertise in commercialization routes and strategies comes from over 15 years of working with early stage technologies at numerous universities. He has worked closely with technology transfer offices in not only protecting their technology through patents, but also in helping them to decide how to deploy their limited resources. He is an expert in translating groundbreaking science into realistic commercial opportunities. David has been involved in the analysis of numerous opportunities for company formation, both as a potential founder, as well as a consultant for the formation teams or IP owners, many of which have led to company formation. He brings over 15 years serving senior executives, scientists and professionals in Fortune 100 companies and leading academic institutions in all aspects of biotechnology patent value creation, counseling, and litigation. While an Officer and Shareholder at Needle & Rosenberg PC, David was Vice President of Venture Investments where he worked closely on the integration of scientific, business and legal strategies to optimize commercial opportunities for his firm in non-traditional legal arrangements with clients, such as contingent fee arrangements and equity positions. David’s practice focused on small biotechnology and pharma opportunities and companies. David has also served as Chief Technology Officer of Zirus Inc., a platform host target antiviral company where he was responsible for the integration of the company’s science, patent and business strategy. David has a JD with Honors from Emory University School of Law and a Doctor of Philosophy in Genetics from Harvard University. He did his undergraduate studies in Biology and Chemistry at the University of San Diego, CA. He has numerous honors and recognitions including The Best Lawyers in America, 2007-2012 and Georgia Super Lawyers Rising Stars.
