Minneapolis, MN-based Xcel Energy has appointed David Harkness as Chief Information Officer.

About the Person
David Harkness is vice president and chief information officer for Xcel Energy where he is responsible for all information technology operations and governance, cyber security functions, and the company’s business continuity program. Dave joined Xcel Energy in 2009 from PNM Resources, where served in roles including vice president and chief information officer, executive director of business transformation, executive director BPO First Choice Power and executive aide to the PNM Resources CEO. He holds a BA from the College of Liberal Arts at The University of Iowa with a double major in computer science and applied mathematics. Dave attended the Utility Executive Course in 2006.
