About the Person
Darryl West served as an Interim Chief Operations and Technology Officer of Barclays Bank PLC since 2013. Mr. West served as an Interim Chief Operations & Technology Officer of Barclays PLC until June 2014. Mr. West was responsible for consolidating and leading Barclays`s technology services, testing utilities and shared applications development. He has over 30 years’ experience in the financial services industry. He spent the last eight years as Group Chief Information Officer of Lloyds Banking Group, the largest diversified financial services group in the UK with over 30 million customers. During this time, he led the transformation of the IT organisation, creating a world-class capability that has delivered significant value for Lloyds. He played a leading role in the integration of Lloyds TSB and Halifax Bank of Scotland (HBOS), widely recognised as one of the largest successful post-merger integration programmes in financial services. Since the completion of the HBOS integration, his IT team has continued to drive a major group-wide simplification programme, as well as the build-out of Europe’s largest digital bank with over 10 million active customers. Prior to joining Lloyds, he held various IT and business management positions in the financial services sector. The majority of his career was with JPMorgan Chase, and he has also spent time with Accenture and the National Australia Group (Europe). Mr. West has extensive international experience, having worked in Australia, France, UK, Germany and the US. At the National Association of Software and Services Companies (NASSCOM) Global Leadership Awards in February 2013, Mr. West received the award for Business Transformation using IT in recognition of his role in leading the delivery of transformational change at Lloyds. He graduated first in his class at Deakin University (Australia) and has a Bachelor of Commerce with majors in Accountancy and Computer Science. He is a Fellow of the Institute of Chartered Accountants (Australia).
