About the Person

Dan Zelem served as both the CIO and CTO of Medco. He worked for the company from 1992 until 2012, leaving after the merger between Medco and Express Scripts. At joining Medco Health Solutions Inc. Zelem was a key contributor and thought leader in delivering game-changing strategies to provide a competitive advantage to Medco and its clients. During his two decades there, Zelem oversaw the implementation of an industry-leading enterprise information warehouse platform, the launch of Medco.com - the world's largest online pharmacy, with more than 6 million consumers and $6.4 billion in drug sales; the development of analytic products that enabled Medco's clients to perform advanced analytics using a "detailed data" paradigm; the development of the Enterprise Image Service platform, which enabled Medco's nationwide network of pharmacies to electronically process more than 105 million mail-order prescriptions each year; and the formation of Medco's enterprise IT strategy and the modernization of IT assets.
