Tinley Park, IL-based State of Illinois has Promoted Dan Lorenc as Chief Information Officer  

 

About the Company

The government of Illinois, under the Constitution of Illinois, has three branches of government: executive, legislative and judicial. The executive branch is split into several statewide elected offices, with the Governor as chief executive, and has numerous departments, agencies, boards and commissions. Legislative functions are granted to the General Assembly, composed of the 118-member House of Representatives and the 59-member Senate. The judiciary is composed of the Supreme Court and lower courts.

 

About the Person

Dan Lorenc has taken a new role as CIO for the Illinois Department of Natural Resources, a $268M Agency with approx. 1,340 staff; to regulate, manage, conserve, and protect the natural, recretional and cultural resources. Previously as PgmMgr, Dan worked in the EPMO in Central Mgmt Services; for the 2,000 mile upgrade to the State's fiber network supporting very high speed voice/data services; Business Intelligence using datamarts (SQL); and Metrics tools (Performance Point). Past work in project management of IT projects for Booz Allen Hamilton SharePoint implementation. Other firms recently served include: Cabela’s; Genentech; Harley-Davidson; Sanofi-Aventis; State Farm and Toyota Financial. Dan’s experience in development methods began as a systems architect for a large computer company. He continued his application of methodology as a product manager in AT&T. As the Vice President of Operations for GIST, he led the company’s growth in building simulation and training systems for the US Military programs. As a Vice President for marchFirst (Whittman-Hart/US Web), one of the world’s leading Information Technology consulting firms, he led branch operations, and participated in corporate ERP process improvement efforts. His experience goes cross-industry: aerospace; telecommunication; financial/insurance; pharmaceuticals; transportation/distribution; manufacturing/retail; and domestic and international computer systems suppliers. He has led projects for the Army, Air Force, Social Security, NASA, FAA, and the DOD Laboratories, with Top-Secret clearance. He holds an MBA from Lewis University, BS in computer-engineering from the University of Illinois, Novell Certified (CNS), Cisco Certified (CSE) and is PMI Certified Project Management Professional (PMP). Dan is also an Adjunct Professor in the Business College of Webster University, teaching technology and systems development process in the MBA program.
