Founded in 1938, Pratt Community College is a two-year, comprehensive public community college and area vocational school located in south central Kansas 70 miles west of Wichita. Some of our hallmark programs include Electric Power Technology, Ag Power Technology, Automotive Technology, and Nursing. North Iowa Area Community College is a progressive, comprehensive learning institution positioned to serve as the major cultural, educational, and economic development force for the North Iowa region. 2008 marks the 90th anniversary of the College, which began in 1918 as Mason City Junior College (the first public two-year college in Iowa) and became North Iowa Area Community College in 1966.
The university can trace its beginning to 1891 when members of the Church of the Brethren, moving west to California, founded Lordsburg College. When the surrounding agricultural community of Lordsburg was renamed to La Verne in 1917, the institution followed suit and La Verne College was established. To provide opportunities for students to achieve their educational goals and become contributing citizens to the global community.
