The Defense Commissary Agency operates a worldwide chain of commissaries providing groceries to military personnel, retirees and their families in a safe and secure shopping environment. The U.S. Government Publishing Office (GPO) was created by an Act of Congress on June 23, 1860 and opened its doors nine months later on March 4, 1861. With 1,700 employees, GPO is the Federal Government’s primary centralized resource for gathering, cataloging, producing, providing, authenticating, and preserving published U.S. Government information in digital and tangible formats. The Bureau of Safety and Environmental Enforcement (BSEE) works to promote safety, protect the environment, and conserve resources offshore through vigorous regulatory oversight and enforcement.
