About the Person

Christopher T. Hjelm, also known as Chris, has been the Chief Information Officer of The Kroger Co. since August 28, 2005 and as its Executive Vice President since September 10, 2015. Mr. Hjelm served as Senior Vice President at The Kroger Co. from August 28, 2005 to September 10, 2015. He has more than 20 years of technology leadership experience at high-growth Internet companies as well as in Fortune 500 firms. He served as the Chief Technology Officer of Orbitz, Inc. since July 2003 and was leading its technology strategies, engineering, site architecture and operations. In this role, Mr. Hjelm was responsible for all aspects of technology, ensuring that Orbitz continues its industry-leading role in providing the lowest cost and most consumer-friendly technology platform in online travel. He served as the Chief Information Officer of travel distribution services at Cendant Corp. While there, he led the division`s technology strategies and was responsible for all aspects of engineering, site architecture and operations. He served as Senior Vice President of Technology of eBay Inc., from March 2002 to June 2003, overseeing all aspects of technology. He oversaw product development, site operations, architecture, information security and the technology that provided effective business operations for eBay`s community of users and employees. He served as Executive Vice President of Broadband Network Services of Excite@Home from June 2001 to February 2002. In that capacity, he was responsible for operations, engineering and product development. Mr. Hjelm served as the Chairman, Chief Executive Officer and President of Zoho Corp., from January 2000 to June 2001. He refined his technology, management and leadership skills during his 14 years at Federal Express Corporation, where he served for the last 2 years as Chief Information Officer and Senior Vice President. He has been a Director of Rehabcare Group Inc. since July 31, 2007. Mr. Hjelm has been a Director of Kindred Healthcare Inc. since June 2011. He serves as a Member of CIO Advisory Board of newScale LLC. He serves as a Member of Advisory Board at Channel Velocity, Inc. Mr. Hjelm holds a Bachelor of Science degree in Computer Information Systems from the Colorado State University in 1983 and an Honorary PhD in Computer Science from Colorado Technical University.
