Avon Lake is a city in Lorain County, Ohio, United States, located on Lake Erie. The population was 22,581 at the 2010 census. It is part of the Cleveland-Elyria, OH Metropolitan Statistical Area. The Avon Lake Building Department issues permits for all construction of buildings and structures, and performs the required inspections required by each permit. Additionally, the Building Department registers contractors who are working in our City. The Building Department will answer all questions related to building projects and building construction issues by homeowners, architects, engineers, building owners, tenants and project managers. We enforce the Ohio Building Code and enforce the Residential Code of Ohio. (These codes include the enforcement of the National Electric Code, the Ohio Mechanical Code and the Ohio Plumbing Codes.) The Building Department has 6 employees, Building Official, two full time inspectors, one part time inspector, one full time secretary and one part time secretary. This department issues permits for all construction of buildings and structures, and performs the required inspections required by each permit. Additionally, the Building Department registers contractors who are working in our City. The Building Department has certified building inspectors, electrical inspectors and plumbing inspectors. The Building Department also performs plan reviews of all building projects as needed and performs inspections on all buildings and structures.

Hammond’s stability is directly tied to its livability. Since I’ve been Mayor, Hammond’s quality of life has improved, and will continue to improve. Hammond is blessed to be located on Lake Michigan, but until fairly recently, that view was primarily an industrial view. Only recently have family friendly and ecologically appropriate improvements have been made to Hammond’s lakefront property with an aim towards preservation as well as enjoyment. The brand new pavilion on Wolf Lake not only beautifies the shores, but provides entertainment and cultural opportunities for Hammond’s families year round. The City of Hammond also supports educational opportunities and choices with a state of the art Charter School as well as the College Bound program which insures that Hammond’s best minds have a chance to succeed regardless of family income. Hammond, under my administration also continues to encourage and promote economic development. Hammond encourages existing business to put their best face forward by way of the façade rebate program and continues to work to beautify the gateways leading into our beautiful City.
