College Park, MD-based University of Maryland has appointed Brian Voss as vice president of information technology.
As the State`s flagship, the University of Maryland (UMD) strives to bring students deeply into the process of discovery, innovation and entrepreneurship. Brian D. Voss, a consultant with Brian D. Voss and Associates, has more than 30 years of experience in information technology, both in higher education and the private sector. He will begin work leading Clemson Computing and Information Technology (CCIT) Aug. 1. He spent three years as the vice president for information technology and CIO at the University of Maryland. There, he was responsible for IT strategy, infrastructure and services and leading the campus central IT organization. Voss also has worked at Louisiana State University, Indiana University, Mead Data Central and Westinghouse Electric. He has served on the board of directors for EDUCAUSE and the Kuali Foundation. During his 10-year tenure as vice provost and CIO, Bottum implemented Clemson’s first high-performance computing and large data capabilities to support faculty research. He led an infrastructure transformation that saw Clemson’s network capacity increase from 100 megabytes per second to 100 gigabytes per second, currently the fastest available research and education network capacity in the nation.
