About the Person

Brian R Lurie is the former Vice President and Chief Information Officer of Gardner Denver Incorporated. Gardner Denver which is headquartered in the suburbs of Philadelphia is a global manufacturer of industrial compressors, blowers, pumps, loading arms and fuel systems. The Company has facilities and offices in 33 countries producing revenues of almost $2.5 billion annually. During his tenure, he developed a talent led strategy to build a global shared service combining previously independent geographically based IT teams into a single entity. This included creating a single instance ERP system and a web and mobile strategy to support the company’s new aftermarket initiatives in support of direct revenue growth while simultaneously supporting the numerous work streams that led to the recent acquisition by the private equity firm of KKR. Previously, Lurie was the Senior Vice President and Chief Information Officer of Pennsylvania based Teleflex Incorporated, where he developed a global IT shared service, leveraging world-wide capabilities to support company growth. Among his many accomplishments, he created a five-year strategic plan which led to the approvals and launches of the SAP Global Roll Out and Enterprise Document Management System (EDMS) projects. Lurie was heralded for his intense focus on customer advocacy and talent management. Teleflex is a global provider of medical devices used in critical care and surgery serving healthcare providers and device manufacturers in more than 130 countries with $3 billion in annual revenues. For 13 years prior, Lurie served as Vice President, Information Technology at New Jersey based Stryker Orthopaedics, the largest operating division of the Stryker Corporation with more than $6.7 billion in annual sales. Stryker Orthopaedics is a global leader in design, development, manufacturing, marketing, and sales of reconstructive, trauma, and sports medicine orthopaedic products. Lurie provided worldwide IT leadership for Stryker Orthopedics. His teams were responsible for all computer and communications requirements including: application development, infrastructure, information delivery, and IT quality and controls with a core focus on customer satisfaction and response. Lurie was a founding member of Stryker’s Business Technology Council, a cross-divisional Stryker entity. Prior to his position at Stryker Orthopaedics, he served as CIO for Penn Engineering and Manufacturing, managing an international IT staff in corporate, field and consultant positions. He was responsible for selecting new technology and saw company growth of more than 30% during his tenure. From 1984 through 1994, Lurie worked for the Unisys Corporation. He culminated his tenure there as the Tri-State area Bid Integrity Manager. Lurie has received many accolades including the CIO Leadership Networks 2008 Top 10 Leaders & Innovators Award and Premier 100 - Computerworld Magazine 2009. In 2011 he was profiled in both, The Transformational CIO by Hunter Muller and The 11 Secrets of Highly Influential IT Leaders by Marc J. Schiller. Lurie was also profiled in Hunter Muller’s 2013, Leading the Epic Revolution. Most recently he was profiled in CIO Review Magazine Meet the CIO 2013. Lurie serves on the panel for the Global Technology Confidence Indicators (GTCI), an executive research and analysis unit at Stevens Institute of Technology in Hoboken, NJ, and is a Charter Board Member on the Temple University Computer and Information Sciences Advisory Board. He is a technology guest speaker at both the University of Pennsylvania and at Columbia University. He holds a Bachelor of Arts degree in Computer and Information Sciences from Temple University in Philadelphia, PA., and conducted post-graduate work at The University of Pennsylvania, Harvard University, and Gallup’s Leadership Academy. He is actively involved in community service.
