A charming, safe, progressive community nestled in the beautiful Blue Ridge Mountains of southwestern Virginia; Hillsville is easily accessible by car and by air. The town is served by two primary state highways, Routes 58 and 100, and Interstate highway 77. The residents are friendly and hardworking, extending open arms to business, industry, and visitors. The Town is steeped in history with a two block area of downtown designated as a state and national historic district.
The North Carolina Department of Commerce is the states lead agency for economic, community and workforce development. Taking a comprehensive approach to economic development, the Departments work reaches many areas. The Department helps people find jobs and employers find and retain a qualified workforce. The Department administers the states employment security system, supporting workers during career transitions. The Department provides local communities with grants and planning services to spur infrastructure development and economic growth, and administers the states economic incentive programs. The Department is also responsible for recruiting companies to the state, helping existing North Carolina companies expand, encouraging business start-ups, enabling companies to export, and marketing North Carolina as a business and visitor destination. In October 2014, the Department entered a contract with a new public-private organization, the Economic Development Partnership of North Carolina (EDPNC) to take the lead in these recruiting and marketing functions.
In November of 2007, Catholic Social Services of Grand Rapids joined with Catholic Social Services of Muskegon and Catholic Human Development Outreach to form Catholic Charities West Michigan, which serves the 11 counties of the Diocese of Grand Rapids. We are a community-based agency providing programs in Western Michigan, and offering a variety of services ranging from prevention and education to crisis intervention. All programs are designed to help families and individuals succeed. We are committed to serving the best interests of our clients, representing a diverse population, including persons of all faiths, with particular emphasis on service to persons with low income and outreach to diverse ethnic backgrounds.
