The mission of the Alaska Humanities Forum is to use the humanities to tell stories and impact the lives of all Alaskans. The Forum is a 501(c)(3) organization. Founded in 1972 by the National Endowment for the Humanities (NEH), the Forum is one of 56 state and territorial groups also supported by the NEH. The Forum is also a member of the Federation of State Humanities Councils.
