About the Person

Barbara G. Koster has been Chief Information Officer and Senior Vice President at Prudential Financial, Inc., since May 2011. Ms. Koster serves as a Member of Executive Board at BITS Financial Services Roundtable. Ms. Koster served as the Head of Global Business and Technology Solutions at Prudential Financial, Inc. She served as the Chief Information Officer of Prudential Financial Inc. since January 8, 2004 and also served as its Senior Vice President of Operations & Systems since May 2011. Ms. Koster has a proven track record in the technology arena. She joined Prudential in 1995 as Vice President of Policy Administration & Management Systems. Ms. Koster served as the Chief Information Officer of Prudential Individual Life Insurance, where she was responsible for a wide range of technological functions including distribution, policy administration, customer relationship, service delivery, financial systems and information security. She held a variety of technology-related positions at Chase Manhattan Bank including President of Chase Access Services and Vice President of Financial Systems and Information Services. Ms. Koster serves as Chairman of Pramerica Systems Ireland, Ltd. and Prudential Systems Japan, Ltd., both technology subsidiaries of Prudential Financial. She served as the Chairperson of the Board at ACORD Corporation. She serves as a Director of ACORD Corporation. She serves as a Director of Prumerica Systems Ireland Ltd., a Prudential Financial subsidiary and ACORD Corporation, a standards body for the life insurance industry. Ms. Koster serves on the Boards of trustees of Liberty Science Center in New Jersey and St. Francis College. She also is a Member of Executive Women in NJ and Research Board, an international think tank. Ms. Koster was named Chief Information Officer of the Year in 2008 by the Executive Council and listed among the top Executive Women of New Jersey. She also has been named among the Premier IT Leaders by Computerworld magazine; the Top Twenty Financial Management Technologists by the CIO Forum; and the Elite Eight by Insurance & Technology magazine. Koster received the 1999 Women in Science and Technology award from the Smithsonian Institute. She has been a featured speaker at dozens of national and international industry conferences. Ms. Koster has a Bachelor of Science degree in Business Administration and an Associate of Science degree in Computer Technology from St. Francis College.
