Aurelia G. Boyer, M.S.N., M.B.A., is Chief Information Officer and Senior Vice President at NewYork-Presbyterian Hospital and NewYork-Presbyterian Healthcare System. She is responsible for operations oversight and strategic planning in information technology (IT), establishing technology priorities and investment decisions, and aligning technology resources to meet the Hospital’s mission of excellence in patient care. Among her achievements are implementing a fully integrated physician order entry system and a robust clinical information system (CIS), including clinical alerts, interfaces to all ancillary systems and clinical documentation. In addition, the Hospital’s IT department was listed as Computer World magazine’s “100 Best Places to Work in IT” in 2008. Ms. Boyer joined NewYork-Presbyterian Hospital in 1993 as a Project Manager for Clinical Information Systems, was promoted to Director in 1996, and to Vice President in 1998. She assumed her current role in 2003. Prior to joining NewYork-Presbyterian, Ms. Boyer was a Senior Manager with the New York City–based health care information system consulting firm Healthcare Management Counselor. In this role, she developed information systems for hospitals and large medical centers across the country. She also worked at Price Waterhouse in New York City in their health care consulting practice. Prior to working as a consultant, she held nursing administrative and teaching positions at the Detroit Medical Center, Oakland University and Sinai Hospital of Detroit, all in Michigan. Ms. Boyer earned her Bachelor of Science in Nursing from the University of Michigan, a Master of Science in Nursing from Wayne State University and an MBA from the University of Michigan.
