Las Vegas, NV-based Visus Technology Appointed Attila Priplata as Chief Technology Officer
Visus Technology, Inc. was founded for the purpose of integrating and developing solutions to improve the quality of life for people with a wide range of vision impairment, from mild loss of vision to no light perception or complete blindness. We wanted to make it easy for the visually impaired to participate fully in day-to-day activities without the need for multiple devices. We saw no reason why it should be necessary to have one device for reading books, another for identifying objects, a third for socializing, a fourth for navigating, and so on. With these concerns in mind, we set as our goal the development of an integrated suite of software solutions to assist visually impaired people with communication and everyday needs. Visus Technology, Inc.’s brand values are closely intertwined with the primary product, the VelaSense® application suite, which is designed to enhance the lives of people who have various levels of visual impairment. We believe in independence, connectedness, sociability and full participation, and we are forward-thinking. Along with our product comes hope and promise for the future. At Visus Technology, Inc., our mission is simply to continue to improve the lives of people in the United States, and eventually worldwide, through continuing research and technological development. We envision a future where, through the creation of increasingly revolutionary life management solutions, there will be no barriers.
Attila A. Priplata, Ph.D. is the Director of Research and Development for Visus Technology. He has over a dozen years’ experience in delivering technologies from conception to product launch. At Visus, Dr. Priplata is the lead software architect and manages all aspects of the product research and development. There he worked on the development of products that use neurostimulation to improve balance and gait in elders and individuals with sensory loss in their peripheral nervous system. He continued this work through his post-doctorate at Harvard Medical School and into his first industry job with Stryker Development. There he expanded the portfolio of uses of stochastic resonance into various sensory organs of the body. Prior to Visus Technology, Dr. Priplata was R&D manager at EndoCore where he designed and developed an endoscopically-placed obesity device.
